Chiropractic Care for Headaches

Fibromyalgia is most well-known for bringing about widespread and chronic pain. This pain is often accompanied by fatigue, sleep disturbances, mood swings, memory issues, and other cognitive difficulties. While the primary symptom is musculoskeletal pain, fibromyalgia can wreak havoc on every aspect of a person’s life, including their mental health and overall quality of life.

Although fibromyalgia doesn’t have a cure and there is not one specific cause linked to all cases of the disease, symptoms can be reduced and pain can be minimized to lessen the impact of fibromyalgia. Most doctors, researchers, and medical professionals believe that the root cause of fibromyalgia has to do with the way your brain and spinal cord process pain signals. Because of this link between fibromyalgia and the central nervous system, a Bozeman chiropractor is a great specialist to visit for help with fibromyalgia. Dr. Cary Gentry of Waypoint Chiropractic is a nervous system expert, and he has a great deal of experience in helping improve the function of the central nervous system through neurologically-based chiropractic care.

Causes of Fibromyalgia

As mentioned above, there is not one singular thing that is responsible for causing fibromyalgia, but there are some interesting things to note regarding how this disease comes about. Firstly, it can begin after a trauma of some sort, such as a car accident or sports-related injury. Serious infections or prolonged psychological stress can also play a role in the onset of fibromyalgia. These things can also trigger an increase of symptoms in a person who was diagnosed previously but is currently not experiencing symptoms.

Secondly, and most intriguing, nerve stimulation can actually cause a person’s spinal cord to change, causing it to experience pain differently. Basically, the chemicals in the spinal cord can change from an external or internal factor, causing nerve receptors to alter how they interpret pain, which brings about the chronic, widespread pain that is commonly linked to fibromyalgia. After this change in the spinal cord takes place, the brain then links many signals, both painful and non-painful, to widespread pain, essentially resulting in the body and brain overreacting to signals and resulting in feelings of pain.

How Chiropractic Can Help with Fibromyalgia Pain

Since the source of fibromyalgia pain lies within the spine, it only makes sense that chiropractic care would be an excellent solution for conquering the symptoms of the disease. Many times, misalignments of the spine are so slight and minuscule that we may not even notice them, or we may perceive that we simply slept wrong or moved weirdly and are dealing with the resulting back pain. However, these misalignments, when left unresolved, can bring about a slew of issues, ranging from minor back pain to frustrating fibromyalgia pain to very serious illnesses and diseases.

When a Bozeman chiropractor adjusts the spine and proper alignment is restored, the body is able to work more effectively and all systems are able to run more optimally, resulting in better overall function and improved health.  This can minimize painful symptoms of fibromyalgia, as well as completely eradicate any other conditions or issues you’ve been experiencing. If you’re ready to be set free from fibromyalgia pain with true correction and real healing, visit Dr. Cary Gentry at Waypoint Chiropractic in Bozeman, MT. He and his team will educate you on the science behind chiropractic and help you on your road to better health and a better life.
