When most people think of investments, they think purely of their finances: where their money is going, how they are earning money, and where they can spend more to make more. But investments are far more than just financial—they are also about how you spend your time, your talents, and your non-monetary resources.
As we move into a new year that is full of hope and promise, we encourage you to take an in-depth look at how you’re spending your time, talents, and treasures. We love our Bozeman community and want the best for all of our friends and neighbors, and we want you to prioritize your health and wellness this year. You can do so by exploring new ways to “invest” in your health and committing to those things for the foreseeable future so that you experience the best “return on investment” in your life.
We all know that time is fleeting. We also know that in many seasons of life, the days are long but the years are short. It can be so hard to invest our time in things that don’t pay off immediately or that feel like a long-term investment. But just as you need to make the time to build and nourish relationships, businesses, and your own personal growth, your health is the same. Your health needs attention and you need to invest your time to improve your health and enhance your wellbeing.
Being healthy doesn’t have to be expensive, but it may take some financial investments that you aren’t accustomed to. Perhaps you need to join a gym or pay for a meal planning service. You might need to invest in nutritional counseling, a personal trainer, or chiropractic care. All of these things can improve your health but they do require a commitment and investment on your part. The benefit of investing financially in your health is that it tends to make you a little more dedicated because you know have something to lose if you don’t follow through.
Everyone has talents and skills that are unique to them. Find something that you love to do that will also encourage you to be active and healthier, and get invested in improving that skill and having fun while you’re at it! Maybe you love to run, hike, or bike. Perhaps you enjoy playing Frisbee, golfing, or kayaking. If you don’t already have an activity that you love that keeps you moving, start trying out different ones and see what you enjoy.
The best health occurs when you are proactive yet patient. You need to be proactive to get ahead of any potential issues and do “maintenance” rather than “repairs.” But you also need to be patient because healing and true health don’t happen overnight. Trust the process and do your best to make wise decisions regarding your health, and don’t try to rush results. You will get to where you want to be if you are both proactive and patient.
If you’re ready to learn more about how to be proactive in your health or you want to begin natural and effective chiropractic care for improving your overall wellness, contact Dr. Cary Gentry. You may have heard it said that feelings are indicators, not dictators. This statement applies primarily to our emotions, as we all know it’s not mentally healthy to be completely led and ruled by our emotions. But this concept should also be applied to our physical feelings and physical health. Feelings of pain, discomfort, or concern about our physical health should be indicators that something may be amiss, but they should not be dictators that require us to take a pill, have a procedure, or even get surgery.
